There has been some coverup in my mother's sudden drug reaction and resulting hospitalization. Stroke was ruled out but drug reaction was suspected. The doctor was miffed but suspected drug interaction. She seemed to get worse when the owner of this retirement place visited her at the hospital. I discovered neglect & abuse only recently since I don't live in the same town. A health care worker alerted me to "get her out of there". She went from an articulate person to someone who cannot even hold her thoughts nor talk well. I can think of no other motive except possible life insurance link. So I am asking the same questions as above. She could possibly have signed a consent form thinking it was something else - she is blind. So, how do we find out if someone has life insurance on her?

I just spoke with my insurance agent. His advice is to first of all, if you suspect that someone has a policy on you without you knowing, contact the Department of Insurance in your state and ask them how you can look this up. Each state is different...he says. Also, most agents must know the individual and the individual must sign in the presence of the agent. He also stated that a policy like this is of no benefit to the insurance company so, most companies police themselves heavily to catch on to the death of a seemingly healthy individual. So, contact your state's Dept. of Ins., express your concerns whatever they may be, and, let them lead you in the right direction. He and I wish for everyone to have good luck and stay safe.

This is is in responce to Karyn Leopold comments. I have know her to be a fine upstanding woman that puts her family first. I find it odd that her ex husband lived in both colorado and oregon. First of all, how can you get a parallegal degree, when you have an arrest record of continued violence??????????? She has claimed Bankrupsy 3 or 4 times. My insurance man who I married, took out a term life insurance policy on me for $100,000.00 in 1992, one year later we married. The premium for the policy went up about $60.00 a month and I asked him why, he said cost of living. We had legalism happen between us, found out his uncle who married us was not a real minister. Years later I remarried, but, kept paying the premiums on the insurance policy, but, when i was to turn 59 1/2 the premium would go up to $1,400.00 a month. I told my new husband no way would I pay that in front of a StateFarm Agent, that I was going to cancel it, he said, you still have time, leave it alone, mistake on my part. So,things started happening to me, accidents, I finally got a PFA on him, we are now divorced, i never got my evidence hearing. So, I told myself there is something evil about this policy, I sent away for a microfishe copy and there it was. The first husband had crossed out $100,00000 (is this legal?) and put in $250,000.00 with a $50,000 rider a year. Myh children were the beneficiaries, but, it was filled in with a notary seal that I wanted to change the ownership of the policy, I never even knew this was an option to do. Money makes you a target and I suffered greatly twice over this policy. Actually in policies I was worth over $300,000.00.The second husband also took out another accidental/dealth policy on me for the mortgage one month before body slamming me down on a 2' concrete bridge abutment he called an accident (he told the Dr he was trying to get out of the rain). He talked me into putting my name on the house just prior to that, I had no idea I was being set up. There has to be a way a person can find out if there is an insurance policy on them. People, if unexplained things start to happen, go directly and try to find out (MIB) if there is a policy on you or an inquiry of a policy on you, it could save your life. I had no clue someone could become owner of your policy, don't forget, my husband was the insurance man who wrote the policy.

I spoke with the Pennsylvania Insurance Bureau about all this and they told me there is no state or national registry for insurance policies, I told them then they were enbling murders. In the slightest instance, a letter should be sent to the insured that there is a policy, and that insured should have to get a bank guaranteed signature with photo ID to affadavit they indeed are aware of the policy and that the policy is ligitimate. In this country insurance companies make murder for insurance cash just too convenient, it must be stopped
