How do you find out if someone had a life insurance policy before they died?

My father past away last year and he told me he had life insurance.But when he past no one contacted me. and my grandma said i don't no know what i'm talking about.

Hi, It's going on 4 yrs since my adopted mother died. My grandmother adopted me when I was 4 yrs of age and the only mother I have ever knew. Well it's sad to say but her kid's which really are my aunt's never wanted her to do nothing for me and didnt even call me when she passed away and I had to find out by calling a friend up in WVA when I couldnt get a hold of her on the phone.. Anyway she always said that she had stuff set and wanted me to be left ok since I left home right out of school and worked and her 2 girls stayed home and married and she always helped them out when needed and even bought then land so they had a home. Long story short, she had UMW benfs. and check every month from where my dad(her husband) worked and retired from the coal mine's and she said she had life insur. also. Problem is, right before she passed her kids took her and had her change everything over to them even my half because she wasnt in her right mind. She had altimerz's .... So they got it all and me I got 500 dollars. I didn't think it was right and still don't to fight over somebody's stuff and thought if they need it so bad to go through all this and to me be so rotten then let them have it! Well now its been on my mind and my son keeps telling me to find out if she did leave one and to see if it's in my name like she always claimed. I seen your post and was wondering if you know how to find this out because I can't find no info. on net how to do it. Oh just to let you know, I can't ask the lawyer nothing because when I called to talk to him he would not accept my calls and for the record its a very small town and its the lawyer her kids took her to to have everything changed over to them! I even told his sec. that this is odd because how can a woman have altimerz and it's on record with her doctor and she can give everything away to just 2 kids and that it is not right. Let's just say they hung up on me.

to everyone.....the best place to start is to check with the clerk of court and find out if there is a will. if the deceased was not of sound mind then get an attorney to assist you in challenging the will especially if it was changed at the last minute.

Did your husband set up a will? Did he have a financial planner? Who does your taxes? Ask the bank to send you copies of the checks he has written for the last year.
The people who handle your money should be able to tell you what he had. Did he have insurance (property, auto, etc.)? Those people either wrote any life insurance on him, or they know who did.

my dad died first and my stepmam died 28 days later the insurance policies went missing taken by my step mums nephew and how can we find out what the name of the insurance policies were with

my mother recently passed away and I know at one time she had a life insurance policy,how can I find out for free if there is one out there before it does expire?
some cousins told me that distranged long lost distant cousins had a life insurance policy on my dad before he passed recently information on him they would of got very easily how do i find out if any one had a life insurance policy with out my dads permission... i really need to find out who and where and if they have or had on him

You should go to FindYourPolicy.com. It is a National Insurance Registry and if the person you are looking for was a member, you will find everything there that you need.
The insurance money that is available for you or for anyone in your family is free information and is free to get ,the money is with held by the state until it is claimed the Chief office comptroller of state has a web site titled Missing Money you can claim your benefits or diseased relatives unclaimed money.

My ex husband took out a life insurance policy on me while we were married. Now I have been diagnosed with a life threatening disease and he recently asked me if I would die anytime soon. How do I locate this policy so that I may dispute and have it cancelled? I believe it was with the City of San Diego, CA

He worked for O'sullivan in winchester Va at the time of his deathe he was hired on 3/27/2003 and terminated on 6/16/2004 he passed in Feb 10th 2005 we were engaged to be married and I was told he has some life insurance left to me Teresa M. Legeer how do I find this out.

I'm currently 24 years old and I have recently had to move back in with my parents. The first time I left abruptly thinking I was going out of my mind. I felt as if someone was always in an adjacent room watching me. All the mounting screws have been taken off the vents and there are several holes in the ground floor allowing one to see down into the basement. To make a long story short, I think I my parents may be trying to kill me and cash in on an insurance policy. I've confronted them the first time I lived with them and they blew up about it. You would think if there was no hint of thruth they would have me committed or something. I need some kind of help. I'm afraid if I contact the police they will somehow bury the evidence and and make me look insane. If someone reading this can help contact me. 815-901-5119

I would like to know the same thing. We where just told our mother has a policy, but we have no info on it. Nor can we locate the company medicaid said the policy is through.
What you do is go to that insuranc company and find out what kind of policy he too out if it on you then you have every right to view the details. then get the information and call the police and make a report so that there would be a paper trail if something was to happen to you.
i would like to know how how my step mother got all my deseased fathers money.. its a half and half state!!! west virginia ..4 kids and know one has received anything..(except ex wife and her daughter not my fathers of coarse). he told us there was a will and bonds..They stole all his personal items ...vehicals, tractors.. thousands of dollars in tools a saw mill.. just many expensive things his name was Billy david webb.. died 2006 born in oct not sure of date.somewhere around 1934 -1936between the 15th and the 25th day of oct.mom and dad separateded when we were young when he found out he was dying he tried to start a relation ship with his kids ...his wife at the time left him, she didnt want us having any thing..im vert curious if she got the money or my aunt.. mabey my uncle... im sure thereis money somewhere
