Life insurance for seniors

Posted in Senior Life Insurance over 4 years ago, 21 replies

Can you tell me if there are any good life insurance companies selling life insurance for seniors? I want to try to help out my parents and they aren't able to use the internet to search for themselves from their home in NY.

Or maybe companies don't even sell life ins for the elderly?

Life insurance depends on not only age, but health. Depending on how old they are and how healthy they are they should be able to get a policy. However, it will be expensive. You might want to shop around using an online life insurance brokerage that can compare multiple rates at a time. Good luck.

You may want to try Lincoln Heritage Insurance and Senior Life Ins.

You can choose a life insurance quote provider online and compare rates and plans in minutes.

Some leading insurers include Northwestern Mutual, Prudential, and Mass Mutual.

For plans that do not require a medical exam there is Gerber Life, Globe Life and Stonebridge Life Insurance.

Make sure to review all exclusions, and find out if the benefits offered are graded benefits.

Your life insurance rates will depend on several factors, including your age, gender, amount of coverage, type of policy, your health, your family's health history, and if you're on medication.

You can learn more about different options online for seniors life insurance plans.

where do you find if these companies are legitimate, Globe for example, could not find that they were accredited . is there a link for a bank that will tell you wether a company is legitimate or not thank you

Why do you want them to buy life insurance? What is the goal we are working toward in purchasing a policy?

Answering those questions will clear up what exactly your should do in this situation.

Not all policies are equal.

When looking for life insurance quotes it is important to not only understand the type of policy (term or permanent if possible given their age) but the purpose of insurance, income or death benefit. In addition, understanding the exact medical conditions of the people being insured is critical since different insurance companies treat different disorders very differently. For example I have a client who was rated at a cost three times higher with Lincoln than with ING since this elderly woman had asthma since she was a child. ING did not care but Lincoln did.

The issues that concern seniors are many and if you do not work with a specialist who only deals with life insurance for seniors you could very well not only pay too much, but buy the wrong policy.

My business is only working with seniors concerning their life insurance needs. I would be very happy to talk to you about any questions you may have.

Dear Mr. Stoner,

Just navigated your web site. Very impressed indeed ! ! !

Called and left an answering message on your phone, then came back here to reply to your blog. To my pleasant surprise I see that you are the owner of the company.

As I said, I'm 69 1/2 years young, (my wife and I) and we both still work to help support our handi-capped son, and raise seed funds for a non profit vision we have called the "Overcomer's Village" which is mainly for 1st time offenders coming out of prison or rehab. I serve as a volunteer Chaplain and board member for an inner city rehab ministry in Detroit.

My background of over 50 years in ministry, (Youth, music, Pastoral & the Salvation Army) as well as management and marketing, includes over 20 years in sales. I first sold insurance for A.L. Williams back in the mid 80's. About a year ago I got my Life and Health license again.

Since then I've been an independent Agent, serving the Senior Market, which I see is the specialty of your company.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Mr. Stoner,

Should have realized these responses are opened to others besides you to read. If possible, please remove my 1st message or at least my phone #, from this Round Table discussion, as it was meant for your eyes only.

Again, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You . . John F. Miller

I just got a quote for my elderly mother for WHOLE life insurance (she is age 84) and the monthly premium was $352.69=benefit of $25,000.
In five years, at $352.69 that came to approx $21,161.14(close to the benefit amount) so let's say she saved this amount in the bank (the difference being) that if she died any time "prior" to the 5 years it would take her to accumulate the death benefit amouht, she would only have what she saved at the time of her death, one year, two years from now, for example, So it would be better to have insurance than not, she would have $25,000 upon death if she died before 5 years. Although TERM would be cheaper than WHOLE life and would be more suitable to her situation (age)
Oh and this quote came from a very WELL KNOWN and very REPUTABLE insurance company
She had started alot of insurance policies in the past and unfortunately never kept up witih them.
My father was very smart when it came to insurance and had a number of policies (with exceptional companies) in his lifetime, Metlife was one.

My 84 year old mother who is quite healthy just purchased a $10,000 whole life policy which matures when she's 100 (???) The annual premium is $1,740 so in 5 years she's paid in the $10,000 benefit and when it matures, should she live that long, she'll have paid in about $30,000 for a $10,000 benefit. I think the agent took advantage of her. I have confidence she'll at least live another 10 years, ($17,400 paid in) and I think the agent feels that way also. Seems like a dumb gamble to me. I'm going to try to reverse the contract.

I just purchased my home last month. I too, receive mail about purchasing insurance that would help me pay my mortgage early, and also pay off my home if I should die. I too, am leary.
I have read the comments and opinions, but haven't seen any information on the age limit that an insurance company will underwrite you. I am 69 years of age. I work full time, and have been with my job 81/2 years. I consider myself relatively healthy. I say relatively because I am Type 2 Diabetic. I am on pills for control. I weigh 143 lbs, do not have high blood pressure, heart disease, or cancer. What are the chances of my getting a decent insurance policy that would provide for my needs (illness, loss of job), including death?

Betty, there are some companies that will insure you. And diabetes is such a common health condition now, that most companies don't factor it in when quoting you, so long as you are controlled. I am a licensed life and health agent in the Atlanta area. My number is 678-837-5398 and email is [email protected] if you wish to contact me.

52 and looking for a $25,000 to $50,000 term life policy (25 or 30 years if possible) asap. Good website but I haven't really read or seen anything that's 'concrete', nor that has answered my question about where exactly to get started yet though. Thanks.
