Status of Life Insurance Policies

How do I find out what Fortis Benefits Insurance Company, the insurer of policies, for both my husband and myself, since July 1, 2001, at which time Pierce National Life Insurance Company merged with them, are showing reference our policies. We have not had any communication from Fortis for the past 9 years.
