Home owner protection policy, just case of disability or job loss

I just purchase a house, I wanted to purchase mortage protection just in case a disability or job loss, my crarrier said I decline, however when he explain to me that I would be covered, but I supposley decline can I still get a policy of this nature saperate from my home owner policy
