Can I collect on life insurance from a previous job?

I worked for a company for 25 yrs before being laid off. I paid on additional life insurance on my husband for 12 yrs even awhile after I was laid off. My husband recently passed away, I had insurance where I work now but was wondering if I am able to collect any on the insurance from the previous job.
