Is $27 a month a good price for Group Universal Life Insurance from Prudential?

Mike: my best advise to you is go to the library/web looking for solid information and get educated about insurance. Do NOT get into insurance companies websites: try Kiplinger, Motley Fool, Morningstar, Investors Business Daily as better sources of needed information and read a lot about topic BEFORE you put a penny into insurance. And do it quickly: do not procrastinate!
Your uneducated "shopping" could destroy you and your family finances!! And never forget: in general insurance agents are out there for themselves: they are out to SELL you, NOT help you! So it is up to you to KNOW what you want.

I won't totally disagree with C Silva from OK, however I am a financial services professional and although I do "sell" insurance, I would never want anyone I deal with to leave with the feeling of being "sold".
I find it very disrespectful to say that insurance agents are not out to help you! Most agents I know live up to a strict code of ethics, and yes there are bad apples out there in ANY industry.
Please understand that the group insurance you are inquiring about most likely will not cover you if you leave the company, or will possibly reduce when and if you retire. Group insurance is so cheap because it pays out virtually the least amount of times.
I would consider contacting a financial professional in your area to sit down and talk about your financial situation. Life insurance is part of a solid foundation to a financial plan. Ask questions, and get to know an advisor. If it is a good relationship it could last until retirement...
