Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance

Posted in Life Insurance Companies

Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance was established more than a century ago with the formation of two insurance powerhouses, Jefferson Standard and Pilot Life. Headquartered in North Carolina, Jefferson Standard grew steadily from the outset; its life insurance holdings reached $1 billion by the 1950s and exceeded $7 billion by the 1980s. The company purchased control of Pilot Life, a strong competitor, in 1945. After combining their efforts for several decades, Jefferson Standard and Pilot Life ultimately merged in 1987 to form Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance. The new company served all 50 states and offered an exceptional range of group life, disability, and dental insurance options. The Fortune 500 corporation was acquired by Lincoln National Corporation in 2006.
