First Colony Life Insurance Company is a full service life and financial products company that is currently owned by Genworth Financial (formerly GE Financial).
First Colony Life started out in the 1950’s as a provider of life insurance in the Viriginia area. Their main headquarters are still located in Lynchberg. They were one of the first businesses in the country to provide a new product called “term life insurance”. To this day, Term Life Insurance is their largest selling service.
After many acquisitions and unprecedented growth, First Colony is now a major force in the life insurance and financial product field throughout the United States. The S&P has rated their company with an AA-, an excellent rating for a company that deals with financial instruments during a volatile economic time.
